These are few scans of the 100 cards I drew for this set! I had a wonderful time working on it - the whole experience was light and fun, and I truly enjoyed it. Fun, fun, fun is the word of the day with these cards! Top row: Yoda transmitting Galactic energy to R2; a jazzy, snazzy Sy Snootles; Yoda gazing at his quiet reflection in the Dagobah waters. Middle row: A Padawan very excited about receiving his new doll; sleeping creatures on Tatooine; one more sassy Sy! Bottom row: Hoth Leia; a Jawa being reprimanded by a desert critter; Anakin meditating. Of all the cards I drew for this set, that Yoda in the top row (left, with R2) is by far my favorite. I hope whoever pulls it really enjoys it for a long time!Hope you enjoy! -Cyn

A big ol' Galaxy of cards!

More of my cards have gotten the ok so I'm posting them here. I'll be sharing quite a few batches worth in the next couple of days so check back soon! About my meditation cards, I've stuck to a steady practice of meditation for over two years and I can barely begin to describe the profound effects it's had on my life. I took something of a break from my art to explore and strengthen my practice, along with yoga, and it was worth it in every way. My health was being affected by stress, and I foresaw much illness in my future if I didn't take action. I knew long ago meditation and yoga was the right path for me but too often ignored it and figured I'd get to it later. Well, later came a lot quicker than anticipated (thankfully). I also think it's beginning to have beautiful effects on my art process. So, I couldn't help but draw many of my favorite characters in their own meditation sessions (and naturally, Yodo doing yoga). I hope you enjoy them all!-Cynthia

More Approved Cards

I love nature and spend as much time in it as possible. So this time around, I imagined Aayla stopping to enjoy the amazing plant life on Felucia. I wish we could've seen MUCH more of the beautiful landscapes of this lush planet in Episode III. In the second row of cards, I'm depicting Aayla (she's fun to draw!)and Mace Windu in a state of meditation. In the center, there's Leia checking out her Bespin gown and quite possibly thinking (even though she'd deny it) "He'll like this one". In the bottom row, there's Sy Snootles having a rest from her busy gig schedule, Yoda stacking a cairn, and a Padawan toting a rather worn out Yoda doll. Can you tell I'm having huge fun with these? Enjoy!

Star Wars: Galaxy VII - more cards!

These just got approved by Topps today. I couldn't resist drawing my interpretation of the moment Leia was handed her infamous metal bikini. I'm sure it went on begrudgingly. I also sketched a tribute to Flashdance in the bottom right corner. There's Obi Wan meditating super hard, a cute but soggy R2, a sassy Sny Snootles and other Leia's too. Enjoy!

Blast from the Past: Star Wars: 30th Anniversary

It's been about 7 years or so since I started working for Topps. That's 7 years of sketch card madness, and it's been an adventure to say the least. I thought I'd share some of my favorite cards from previous Star Wars sets, for those of you that don't know my work, or those who just want to see it again. These are from the 30th Anniversary set (released by Topps/Lucasfilm in 2007). I remember how excited I was to work on this one. Enjoy!

Have you ever seen a Jawa stacking a cairn? Nope, me neither, and it's probably not that likely that any of those critters were interested in such things. Well, the Jawa on this sketch card is. Cairns are rocks stacked in a meditative state of prayer. When I visited Sedona, AZ in '08, I was deeply moved by the thousands of cairns stacked along a river in one of the energy centers called Bell Rock. Here's a link to a photo (not mine) to give an idea. Of course we can't have a set of Star Wars cards without a gorgeous Slave Leia, so there you go! Bottom row features Ani diligently building 3PO's arm, and on the right in that row, a young Luke reflective on a ledge above the desert.

Star Wars: Galaxy VII

These cards were approved by Topps today. You can click to view a larger image. That little purple thing over Yoda is his Sahasrara (Crown) Chakra, very active as he meditates beneath his favorite tree. I also imagined his sweet smile while having a meal as Luke was off running diligently (if not somewhat questioningly) through trees on Dagobah (and there's R2 in the window peeking in!). While most of my sketches will be about the Original Trilogy, I will be highlighting some characters from the Prequels. I can't help but draw cute kids, so there's Ani with this backpack on Tatooine and a nice portrait of pretty Amidala too. Jabba is always fun to draw- not enough drool on this one though so I may have to draw another! Oh, and of course, Ewoks! More approved sketches on the way, so please check back soon. Enjoy!
